Dig Site after week one

These are pictures from Khirbet Qeiyafa at the start of week two! The particular square that I am working in is a 5 x 5 meter square and over the course of the first week, we discovered numerous restorable jars as well as an intact jar from the 10th century BCE. Also, we had a wall which had collapsed, so we had to tear out the rocks from that collapse. Because most of our square has not been just bedrock, we have done a lot of digging and tearing up dirt with pickaxes, as well as shoveling 100s of buckets of dirt. Working at an archaeological dig site is no easy task. After week one was over, in our square alone, we were about 15 cm below where we started, which is impressive with only four people!
